By train: China's enormous rail network is one of the world's busiest. Trains are usually safe but crowed and run strictly to schedule. Usually the trains come in a three to five minutes interval. The subway runs from 5am to 10:30pm daily

Note that a new subway line has opened at the airport, it is finally possible to reach the city center from the airport by train in 15 minutes.

Cars & Drivers: Renting a car is not a possibility when vacationing in Beijing. Neitheir U.S. lisenses nor IDPs are recognized in China.

The quickest way to hire a car and driver is to flag downa taxi and hire it for the day. After some negotating, expect to pay between Y350 and Y600, depending on the type of car.

For a short distance by taxi, be sure to check that the meter has been engaged to avoid fare negotiations at your destination. Taxis are esay to hail during the day but more difficult during evening rush hour. Some cab drivers could talk in English but you should write down your destination in Chinese to point and go.

From the airport : The easiest way to get from the airport to Beijing is by taxi. Ignore offers from touts trying to coax you away from the line- they're privateers looking to rip you off. The trip to the center of Beijing costs between Y80-Y100, including the Y10 toll for the airport expressway. In light traffic it takes about 40 minutes to reach the city center, during rush hour traffic, expect 1 hour cab ride.

The faster way to get the airport to Beijing is the subway.
