Beijing History

The first signs of life in Beijing the capital of China start around 3000 BC. It has an area of about 9.6 million square kilometers, which comprises about 6.5 per cent of the world total land area.

Beijing was rebuilt in the 12th century, during the Jin (Chin) Dynasty. From the 13th century the Yuan dynasty was established and Beijing, Khanbalik, became the center of all China. During The II World War, the Japanese occupied the city, but after the Communist revolution of 1949, Beijing was designated the capital of the People's Republic of China.

beijing history

Beijing is full of wonderful structures, museums and many pieces of artwork, which represents the treasure heritage of the city’s civilization. There are 2666 temples, 551 cultural relics, and 189 cultural sites under national protection.

Nowadays, Beijing is a city who is reinventing itself. New housing, new office complexes, new business and brand new shopping districts, new roads, seem to spring up overnight. At the same time, it remains an epicenter of tradition, with the treasures of nearly 2,000 years as the imperial capital still on view—in the famed Forbidden City and in the luxuriant pavilions and gardens of the Summer Palace.

Beijing is a city that intrigues, inspires, and rewards.
